Winged Salt

Posted on the 11th of May, 2008 by Lilian under Logo

I’ve adapted this from what Sophie collected from our online conversation.

We’re changing our logo the the flying salt because it represents us as designers much better than the lovely stripy ’salt’. The winged salt is free-spirited, spontaneous and quirky - as one would except from a salt sachet with wings - which is who we are as designers and as individuals.

It’s been a strong image throughout all our work and has come up consistently despite variations in materials, colours and mediums. We’ve been very receptive to it and added it to more things than we probably care to think about. It also links back to our original infatuation with the salt sachet - the colours, the design and the simplicity.

Salt Is Good For You!

Posted on the 11th of May, 2008 by Lilian under Random

For reasons unknown to us the government wants to make us live longer. They’ve created a nanny culture in which we have to do stuff that is ‘good for us’. We’re told too much salt can cause heart disease or even increase the chance of having a stroke. However, can something that is infused into our blood, sweat and tears actually be that bad for us?

You get magnesium from spinach, potassium from bananas and sodium from salt. Not exactly what’s for dinner but a necessary biological concoction. All three minerals are essential for most chemical reactions inside us. Without salt we’d be unable to think, remember or live.

Un-refined, wholesome organic salt is what helps keep this mineral triangle in check. The recommended allowance helps regulate our water balance as well as our nerve and muscle impulses. The humble seasoning can help ease muscular pain, joint pain and increase bone strength.

Clearly not something you should waste by chucking over your shoulder, right?

Magnets

Just a little gift for you guys. I have spares but you’ll have to cut them out yourselves - they’re a pain in the arse and I had enough cutting my own out. Anyway…
